My work begins with attraction—to sensual lines, overlapping shapes, and the way colors cast shadows into one another. I'm drawn to subjects not only for what they represent, but for the unexpected relationships that emerge through color, light, and space.
Classical training gave me a language of observation. Over time, that language has expanded into an exploration of perception, where structure and intuition work together. Each painting evolves through attention rather than predetermined outcomes. I begin with what I see, but I stay for what the painting reveals.
Years of competitive dance also shaped the way I see. Choreography taught me to recognize rhythm, balance, and movement—qualities that continue to influence my compositions. Painting has become another form of choreography, where each mark responds to the one before it and every decision changes what comes next.
My process may begin with observation or with a question—an idea asking to be explored. I gather references, make drawings, and eventually step into the painting without knowing exactly where it will lead. What begins as observation becomes a conversation. I listen, respond, adjust, and discover. The finished painting often teaches me something I couldn't have imagined at the start.
